Ana Paula Estrada (b. Mexico 1984) is a photograher and bookmaker who lives and works in Brisbane Australia.
When Ana Paula migrated from Mexico to Australia in 2011 she became interested on the contemporary issues of older people in the Australian community. As a result, she has produced different bodies of work responding to the themes of memory, nostalgia and the human condition of ageing.
She received the Fonca´s Young Artists Grant 2013-2014 to pursue her project “The Hinterland”. Later in 2015, she was the recipient of the Siganto Foundation Creative Fellowship from the State Library of Queensland, which allowed her to develop her artist book “Memorandum”.
In 2017, Ana Paula will begin her Master of Visual Arts by research degree at the Queensland Collage of Arts. Her research project will look at the current representation of ageing in visual culture and how art practice may extend it to include less stereotypical and more subtle narratives.
